LaFerrari - Ferrari

LaFerrari is a hybrid sports car produced by the car manufacturer Ferrari from 2013 to 2016, an evolution of the 2002 Ferrari Enzo model.

Presented in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show and simultaneously "online" on a dedicated website, it is one of the first series models of the Prancing Horse equipped with HY-KERS, the system which allows energy to be recovered during braking for more power engine, bringing the technology developed on Formula 1 single-seaters to the road.

Sold in 499 copies before the official presentation. Subsequently, the proceeds from the sale of the last example, number 500, (around 7 million euros) were donated to help the populations affected by the 2016 earthquake in Central Italy.

The name of the car "LaFerrari" refers to the sense of excellence expressed with this model by the Maranello company. Chosen by Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari at that time, who introduced it by saying: «it is not a Ferrari, but a LaFerrari, the sum of everything that our company is. And it is the forerunner of what we will transfer to our cars of the future in the next five or ten years."

The bodywork designed in the Ferrari Style Center (directed by Flavio Manzoni) is shaped by futuristic and innovative lines that do not interfere with the functionality of aspects such as the aerodynamics, mechanics and thermals of the car.

The LaFerrari does not take up the stylistic features of the Maranello custom-built cars, taking inspiration in part from the Sports Prototypes of the 1960s, it limits itself to mentioning details such as the black gap between the doors and fenders (of the 308 and the F40) inserted in a more dynamic form.
The passenger compartment is very compact creating a "teardrop" effect. Research on air flows allows us to obtain a car without spoilers or other appendages, integrating them into the shapes of the bodywork to obtain a complex but very "clean" and minimalist design at the same time.

The sharp front is structured in a particular "delta" configuration, with a "suspended" wing which represents an extreme version of the solution debuted in 2012 by the F12 Berlinetta. The front wing, on the other hand, derives from experience in Formula 1 and is connected to the small nose via a single central structure.
At the rear of the car you can see the large diffuser and the retractable spoiler.

At the front, the underbody is characterized by three movable wings to generate the necessary downforce, with the aim of balancing the car during acceleration, braking and cornering. These solutions are also present at the rear in the extractor and spoiler area.

The passenger compartment is essential in its shapes which convey the high level of performance of this sports car. The steering wheel with integrated controls and gear levers fixed directly to the steering column allows for the best use in all conditions. The "bridge" that runs between the two seats, designed as if it were a suspended wing, houses other instruments linked to the dual clutch gearbox.

The fixed driving position is shaped to the customer's physiognomy, the steering wheel and pedals can be adapted to the driver's needs. Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa contributed to the development of these details.

In July 2016, shortly before the Paris Motor Show, Ferrari showed the first images of the LaFerrari Aperta, the open version of the model created in 2013.
Produced in a limited edition, the Aperta is similar to the coupé version from which it differs due to the presence of the retractable roof.
