Joe - Poltronova
Joe is a big chair preformed foam covered in leather, capable of accommodating at least two people, designed by Jonathan De Pas, Donato D'Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi, creators of Blow (1967),.
It is shaped like a giant baseball glove and his name is a tribute to the great champion Joe DiMaggio but also the admiring tribute to American mass culture and the great myths of the collective.
I also found references to American Art and the lessons of Pop Art in particular, such as "soft sculptures" by Claes Oldenburg.
Joe is also an object ironic and irreverent, reflects the cultural climate and the cultural and creative fervor of the late '60s, the widespread desire of the younger generation to question the earlier forms and fees.
Materials: metal frame, polyurethane foam preformed, leather upholstery, on casters.
