Arabesco - Zanotta
table (1949)
The Arabesco CM coffee table is an icon of Italian design, designed by Carlo Mollino in 1949 and produced by Zanotta, a historic Italian design company founded in 1954. A masterpiece of design, Arabesco combines art, craftsmanship and innovation, an expression of the genius of Carlo Mollino and the production quality of Zanotta, capable of giving a touch of elegance and surrealist charm to any environment.
Mollino, an architect and designer from Turin, created this coffee table as an organic and sculptural object, characterized by a balance between sinuous lines and structural lightness, with a reference to dreamlike and surrealist forms.
The structure is made of curved oak plywood, available in a natural or black-stained finish, with wax coating.
Two tempered glass shelves, the upper one 10 mm thick and the lower one 8 mm, with extra-clear glass for the natural oak version, grey smoked glass for the black-stained oak version.
The structure is fixed to the tops by means of through bushings and visible metal pawls, which contribute to the elegance and transparency of the whole.
Arabesco is one of the most famous works by Carlo Mollino, an architect, designer and photographer from Turin known for his eclectic and experimental approach. Born from sketches and drawings made by hand and developed in the carpentry workshops with extreme artisanal care.
Zanotta began producing and promoting Mollino's works in the 1980s, with a philological work that led to faithful re-editions and tributes to his original creations, such as Arabesco CM, which is not a simple industrial re-edition but a tribute to his artisanal and artistic vision.
Zanotta is one of the most famous companies in Italian design, appreciated for its formal and technological innovation and for its collaboration with great masters of design.
Production is based on a balance between craftsmanship and modern technologies, maintaining quality and faithfulness to Mollino's original project.
Zanotta has integrated Arabesco into its CM collection, which gathers Mollino's works with an approach of continuous study and improvement.
