ADI

Association for Industrial Design (1956)

The ADI (Association for Industrial Design) from 1956 brings together designers, enterprises, researchers, teachers, critics, journalists around the themes of design: design, energy consumption, recycling, education.

Its purpose is to promote and help implement, non-profit, the most appropriate conditions for the design of goods and services, through the cultural debate, the intervention with the institutions, the provision of services.

For the ADI design is designing culturally aware, the interface between the individual and society's collective demand and supply manufacturers. Involved in designing products, services, visual communications, packaging, interior architecture and environmental design.

The design is a system that relates the production dealing with users of research, innovation and engineering, to provide functionality, social value, cultural significance to goods and services distributed on the market.

The goals of the ADI are connected to the Compasso d'Oro competition, established by La Rinascente in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti and assigned every three years with the aim of rewarding the Design of the product.

Since 1964, after the patronage of La Rinascente, the award has been passed to the ADI.
